OPTIONAL TOURS

Two optional tours are being offered at a special price (R$ 40) by the meeting's organization. They will occur on the morning of March 20th.


Brazilian Falls:
The falls are in the Iguassu National Park. This tour consists of a 1 km walk, which will make you hold your breath because of the so many magnificent falls. Beside several panoramic views of the falls, along with the tropical forest you will most probably see different animals and wild birds. Before the end of the your, you will have an unforgettable (and wet, if you will) approach of the main falls and a spectacular view of the Devil's Throat Fall. The tour ends at the upper side of the Iguassu Falls, accessed by stairs or using a panoramic elevator.

Itaipu Hydroelectrical Dam - Special Tour:
The world's largest hydroelectric operating power station, Itaipu Binational, is an international joint venture developed by Brazil and Paraguay in the Paraná River. Holding the world's record of electric power production, Itaipu is one of the seven wonders of modern world technology and one of the greatest engineering feats to challenge mankind's ability. Itaipu has received more than 11.5 million visitors from all over the world.
During the tour, besides viewing a documentary on Itaipu and visiting major postcard viewpoints of Itaipu's magnificent dam, you will enter into its heart. There you will admire its majestic wedge-shaped hollow concrete structure, similar to that of cathedrals, and see the former Paraná River bed. You will feel the plant's inner pulse as you touch its walls or ducts directing water (up to 700 cubic meters per second) into the turbines. You will also visit the central command room station, where Brazilian and Paraguayan technicians monitor together the power plant's operation.
